School Rules & Exam Matters
Assembly / Pledge Taking
- Students who are Singapore Citizens must sing the National Anthem and take the Pledge. Students will take the Pledge with the right fist placed over the heart.
Attendance
- All students must be punctual for school and all school functions. Students must report to school by 7.30 a.m. on school days.
- Students must not leave class without the Teacher’s Permission Tag.
- Students are not allowed to go out of the school premises at any time during school hours.
- Students who are not feeling well must report to their teachers. Teachers will inform the parent(s)/ authorised guardian concerned if the student needs to be sent home. Only the student’s parent(s)/ authorised guardian is/ are allowed to fetch the student from school. At no time is any student allowed to go home on his/ her own even when a verbal permission has been given by the parent(s)/ guardian.
Attire
- All students must wear the prescribed school uniform. Any form of modifications to the uniform is not allowed.
- All students must be in full uniform when they are in school or when attending any of the activities organised by the school.
- All students must put on the specially designed ‘KEMING’ socks (available from the school bookshop) or a pair of plain white socks of normal length.
- Name tags are compulsory on the following attire: pinafores for the girls, shirts for the boys and PE T-shirts.
- For PE lessons and game practices, students must be in full PE attire. Students can wear their PE attire for the entire school day.
- All students must keep their nails clean and short.
- Girls with short hair must keep their hair neat.
- Girls with long hair which touches the collar of their blouse must plait or tie up their hair neatly. Only plain black/ blue ribbons or black/ blue hair clips are allowed. Fanciful ornaments are not allowed on the hair.
- Boys’ hairstyles should be one that is short, neat and appropriate.
- Boys are not allowed to keep facial hair and students with facial hair will be required to be clean-shaven.
- Dyeing and streaking of hair is not allowed.
- Students are not allowed to wear any form of jewellery.
- Students are not allowed to wear track shoes.
- Girls may wear plain gold/ silver round stud earrings. Multiple earrings are not allowed.
- Boys are not allowed to pierce their ears or wear ear studs/ earrings.
- Spectacles (if worn) should be plain and non-tinted.
General Conduct
- All students must uphold the core values of the school.
- All students must greet the teachers and visitors when they see them.
- All students must be orderly and self-disciplined at all times.
- All students must be well-mannered, courteous, honest and respectful at all times.
- All students must co-operate with teachers and prefects at all times.
- All students/classes must move about in the school in a quiet and orderly manner.
- All students must not litter or vandalise school property.
Classroom Conduct
- All students must stand up and greet the teacher when he/she enters or leaves the class.
- All students must leave the classroom during recess, except for those performing recess duties.
- All fans and lights must be switched off when leaving the classroom.
- All students must seek permission from the teacher and obtain a Teacher’s Permission Tag before leaving the class during lessons.
Recess
- All students must queue up in orderly manner when buying food.
- All food and drinks must be consumed within the school canteen.
- Used crockery must be returned to the respective stalls.
- All students must finish their food/drinks before the recess ends.
- All students must help to maintain the cleanliness of the school canteen.
- All students are to assemble at the Parade Square immediately after recess before proceeding to their classrooms.
Items not to be brought to school
- Students should not bring electronic games, cards, toys to school.
- No mobile phones or any electronic devices (e.g. PDA) are allowed in the school.
- All students are not allowed to have any weapon in their possession. They are also not allowed to bring any weapon-like item which is used or intended to be used to cause harm to others.
Examination Matters
Examination Policy
Examination Rules
- Reporting time for school is as usual during examination period. No extra time will be given to latecomers.
- All students must be seated at their assigned desks at least 10 minutes before the start of the examination.
- All students must be properly attired in full uniform during the examination.
- Orderliness and silence must be observed throughout the entire examination. Students who are guilty of improper conduct or misbehaviour during the examination may be expelled from the examination room.
- All bags, files, books, etc are to be placed outside the examination room as instructed by the invigilators.
- During the examination, students are to have only stationery in their possession.
- For MTL Paper 1 (Composition) only, SEAB-approved Dictionary and e-Dictionary can be brought into the examination room.
- For P5 & P6 Maths Paper 2 only, MOE-approved calculator can be brought into the examination room.
- No student is to leave the examination room before the end of each paper.
- All students must clear the litter around / underneath their desks after each paper.
- Other examination rules briefed during school assembly must be strictly adhered to.
Cheating Is A Major And Serious Offence
A student who is caught cheating during any test / examination will be given zero mark for that paper and a “Poor” conduct grade.
Examples of cheating may include:
- attempts to obtain unfair assistance or is found to have behaved dishonestly
- copies from another student or allows his / her answer to be copied by another student
- is found to be in possession of any communication equipment such as palm-top, non-approved e-dictionary or handphone.
Absence From Internal Examinations
- There would be no re-sitting of examination papers for students who were absent with or without a valid Medical Certificate.
- For students with a valid Medical Certificate, a ‘VR’ will be reflected in the result slip for that subject.
- Students who do not have a valid Medical Certificate would be given zero mark for that subject.
- The school will ensure that students who are hospitalised or are suffering from any infectious disease (e.g. chickenpox) be fairly assessed.
